The contract.

In September 2009 I wrote this contract to my back.  I have honored it, and as it turns out my beautiful back didn’t need to sliced up by a big bulldog of a man afterall.

Dear Back
There have been times in our relationship where I have taken you for granted.  I have subjected you to relentless hours holding me up over a stove and work bench.  I have rested on you when we should have been exercising.  I have relied on you (because you are so trust worthy) to do a lot of jobs my abdominal muscles should have been doing.  You have stood by me the whole time, only letting out small whimpers every now and then which I have very cruelly ignored.

My dearest most lovely back, I am so sorry for not helping you sooner.  You are my biggest asset and I certainly never ever wanted to take advantage of you.  Finally I am listening and I hear you.  You need help; you can’t carry this entire burden on your own any more.  And no one expects you too.  I have relied on you for so long that everyone else around you has become a little lazy.  Unfortunately it will take them a while to get up to speed, you do one hell of a job and they are big shoes to fill.  If you will forgive me and help all the other muscles start pulling their weight.

So back I would like to offer you a contract of my loyalty to you, and my promise to take better care of you on the future.  These are the ways I intend on making this up to you:  firstly I know that you do not like needles but I also know that you are experiencing a lot of pressure back there.  On Tuesday I am going to get an injection which will allow a lot of that tension to ease.  It will be like a tango though I will get my body there and make it as stress free as possible for you , you just have to lay there and enjoy the numbing sensation and release of all that pressure.  After we are slightly less debilitated by pain and sleep deprivation I will be able to start rewarding you.

The first step will be in the beautiful relaxing environment of the pool.  I will stay in there for as long as you like and we will only do lovely cooling exercises to make you feel comfortable.  As I begin to improve I will start to increase the exercises we do.  Over time I intend to treat you to yoga, pilates and aqua aerobics.  Although this will be an enjoyable time for you, you can relax because I will be teaching all the other muscles to pick up on all the extra duties you do.  I promise I will not burn you under the suns harmful rays.  And I solemnly swear that I will not wear stiletto heels (unless I am going somewhere we will be sitting down, then it’s ok. right?)

I love you with all my heart back and I offer my sincerest apologies for contorting you into this horrible horrible mess.  Please forgive me and please fight this battle with me.  You are immensely strong and I need you on my side.  Lets do this together and I swear I will never let you down again.

Thank you so much back I can not wait for this next exciting journey in my life.  I need you, I love you I will make things better!!!

Kisses
Ali x
